Slow Food Columbus is promoting a Benefit for Alana's Server.

"On Sunday, July 13, there is a Mexican buffet at Alana’s from 4-8pm. Admission is $50 and those interested in margaritas, etc can purchase those separately. Proceeds will go to an account for James Westfall, one of the servers at the restaurant. A week ago, James went into sudden cardiac arrest at his home and has been in ICU at Riverside ever since. He was diagnosed with long q-t wave syndrome, a congenital problem with the electrical system of the heart. James is only 26 and has no health insurance. So I am letting everyone know who might be up for some great food and great company. Please spread the word and bring along any others who feel the same!
Carole & Anna

PS: Please pass it on!"

While we're on the topic of Short North Servers please be sure to visit  Haiku Help and make a donation to Rachel Widomski's medical care trust.

"On the evening of May 15, Rachel Widomski was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver outside of Haiku restaurant. Rachel’s severe spinal cord injuries will leave her paralyzed for life. Please join us in a city-wide fundraising effort to help support Rachel and her family during her long road to recovery."

North Market is hosting The Ohio Food and Wine Festival this weekend. Be sure to check it out on the evening of Friday July 11th, or during the day on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th.

The majority of the show takes place at a Hills Market wine tasting and the first Old Worthington Wine Walk. The Hills Market wine tastings are a regular monthly event held on the 3rd or 4th Thursday of the month. The next one is July 24th. The Old Worthington Wine Walk may become a regular event based on the popularity of the first one. We'll post here as soon as we hear more.

Morton's invited several area bloggers to their downtown location for the Burgers for Bloggers event. Their 30th anniversary is this year, so to celebrate they are offering a $19.78 Prime Sirloin Burger. The dish is fitting considering that legend (by legend I mean press release) has it that the co founders started a business in 1978 when Arnie Morton was impressed with Klaus Fritsch's hamburger making skills. $5.00 from each hamburger purchase goes to the Make a Wish Foundation. They are hoping to make 30 wishes come true.

Attendees included
Dave
Walker
Lisa the Waitress with Mr. Waitress
JimL2
The Gourmand

Oh, and be sure to check out In Season with Lisa aired daily on WCRS @ 3:56 PM.

Walker tells us briefly about the next Columbus Underground Happy Hour @ Eddie George's Grille 27. Thursday July 10th 6pm - 9pm.

After the burgers were eaten, Dave was kind enough to talk to us about a few of his current projects.
